Durham Music Service

Durham Music Service (DMS) aims to support young people with their musical endeavours, and creates exciting musical events to give young people of all abilities and ages the chance to share their incredible musical talents to the wider community. The service operates across County Durham and Darlington.            

The extensive offer includes over 40 musical ensembles for children of all standards including orchestras, choirs, wind bands, brass bands, and percussion, strings and special school ensembles. There are performance opportunities for DMS ensembles in exciting venues such as Durham Cathedral, Sage Gateshead, Gala Theatre as well as local schools and community settings. Children and young people have had the chance to perform with high profile artists including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, VOCES8, Hallé Orchestra, National Youth Jazz Orchestra and many other professional musicians.
